Amazing place with fantastic service! We were lost initially on how to order. But met friendly people sharing same table as us - who even paid for our dinner! Love this place for its food & energy!

Vidyarthi Bhawan is over and above everything. It is not just the best restaurant in Bangalore, but an Emotion! One has to visit this ‘Temple of Food’ to gauge the sentiments behind my words and that of all its loyal patrons. The restaurant is located in Basavanagudi, at the old and famous Gandhi Bazaar.
Started in 1943, By Mr Venkatramana Ural and later passed on to his brother, Mr Parameshwara Ural, Vidyarthi Bhawan, as the name suggests, was set up to feed the demands of the students of National High School and ‘Acharya Pathshala’. In 1954, Vidyarthi was taken over by Mr Ramakrishna Adiga. Over the last 68 years, the Adiga family has continued the legacy of the iconic restaurant, keeping the recipes and the taste of food intact. Most of their staff members have spent their working lives serving the food lovers of Bangalore; hence the care and hospitality that one gets at Vidyarthi Bhawan are unparalleled.

This place is a synonym for the best dosa in Bangalore. They still stand tall since 1943 when they started as a small eatery and they have kept up their standards by all means.
Places like these with a limited menu do full justice to their taste and have relied upon regular customers while alluring all the newbies from various parts of the world.
Plain butter dosa & Masala dosa - Too hot as hell from the bubbling ghee on top of the roast dosa; a bit sweet from the batter but damn crunchy on the outside, freaking soft on the inside, and with their signature chutney, this is OMG!!! This needs a GI tag!!
The potato masala along with the crispy dosa is also a must-try, UNBELIEVABLE consistency ??
Uddina vade & Rava vade - Fluffy urad dal peppery doughnut, that sound when you bite the vada tells you how perfect the outer layer is, soft as cotton on the inside!! You could rather dunk it in their sweet sambar, soak it for a while and take it all in, WOW!!!
The latter was a bit unique and made with sooji; GOOD but medu vada is the best ??
Kesari bath - Sweet sooji with pineapple chunks, raisins, cashews, and some cloves for flavors; very smooth, not too sweet, and not coarse, YUMMY!! ??
Tea/Coffee - Both were frothy, strong with local flavors, refreshing, and the perfect end to the meal!!! ❤️❤️
At times, the waiting time for their dosas gets high but once the long-handed server comes out with all the plates in one go, every one of the tables would be served right. Never have I ever seen a table served wrong though they don't write down the orders, WOW!!
Classic yet rustic decor with commendable service; a limited menu, and great Quality: Price ratio.
They have a narrow lobby and limited seating space, yet, no one complains about the waiting time. They wait to get their seats, they wait to get their hands on dosa and only then they would attain Mukthi.
Their walls are decorated with all the celebrities who have been there and all the testimonials for this place. Still don't believe it? Better visit then, WORTH it and you won't regret it!!!

This is a very ancient South Indian joint in Bangalore. It’s known for its masala dosa which is nothing like what we have in north India. For those who love to experiment with their food and are okay with newer experiences it’s a must visit.
The vibe of the place is very basic and one must come in early in the morning else they will go out of stock.
The place is always overcrowded and one has to eat and leave. It’s not a place where you can sit for hours because the waiting line is huge.

I heard a lot about this place and finally got a chance to visit and eat here. It's a very crowded place. Once you visit, take a coupon or you can call and book your reservation. No parking space so please manage by parking in nearby streets.
Kesaribath was authentic, it was made using pineapple and the sweet was proper. Dosa was very crispy and tasty. Didn't like the idli with sambhar. Staff are very quick, so make sure to decide fast and order immediately. Giving 5 Star ✨ as they deserve it ☺️. You must visit here if you are in Bangalore.
