Udayagiri in Jajpur district is the largest Buddhist complex in Odisha. It is composed of major stupas and monasteries viharas. Together with the nearby complexes of Lalitgiri and Ratnagiri, it is part of the "Diamond Triangle of Odisha.
Located in the foothills, around 90 kilometres from Bhubaneswar. The ruins are beautiful and tells us a lot of history. One can see various sculptures of Buddha and other deities. The courtyard where monks used to come and stay for a short period is very interesting. There is a small stepwell also.
It is not very hilly but maybe difficult for older people to move around as it’s spread over a large area.

Nice Place but needs to be enclosed completely. Restoration and proper care needs to be taken. Free Parking space is available and no entry ticket has been instated unlike Ratnagiri & Lalitagiri.
It is spread over a large area, so be prepared for for cardio. It has an old Bamphi (ground water source).
