Lower side of the Sholayar dam and river crossing bridge. The place suitable to have a short break of travelling. Nicely viewable lower side of the dam. If dam is opened, the view is more attractive and you will force to spend more time to enjoy the flow of the river.

The Dam Shutters are open when we visit there. Nice bridge and good river View from the bridge. Choose wisely if you are planning to choose a resort nearby. There is no parking. You can park before or after the bridge at road side.

Good place to visit near valparai. It lies on the way to athirapally. The Solaiyar dam is a vital reservoir under the parambikulam aliyar project and has a water storage capacity of 160 ft (49 m). The reservoir's overflowing waters are let into the parambikulam reservoir through the saddle dam. This dam was build on 1965.

We Can see the shutters of the longest dam from very near. At the time the dam overflows, we can feel the cool breeze along with the drizzle of water from those shutters
