Such a great bridge of rail and vehicles. Longest bridge in WB. Nice experience, beautiful view of The Ganga River. It connects North Bengal to South Bengal.

The barrage in itself serves a purpose but if you are caught in a jam on this you are done for. The wait time can go over 3 hours sometimes... Because the admin stops trucks on this to collect their cigarettes and bribes and everyone else has to undergo the torture. Both trains and vehicles can go over and recent work has improved the condition of the road so it's less bumpy.

The Farakka Bridge, also known as the Rajendra Setu, is a railway bridge that spans the Ganges River in India. It is located near the town of Farakka in the state of West Bengal. The bridge connects the two districts of Murshidabad and Malda. The Farakka Bridge holds significant importance in the transportation infrastructure of the region. It is a vital link on the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri railway route, which is a major rail corridor connecting Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta) with the northeastern states of India. The construction of the Farakka Bridge began in 1963 and was completed in 1971. It was named after the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The bridge consists of multiple spans supported by pillars, allowing the railway tracks to cross the wide expanse of the Ganges River.

The farakka barrage. Its a beautiful location. The road is a bit narrow, being a national highway. A 2nd bridge is being constructed, though we dnt know when that will be completed. Once the other bridge completes its going to be a smooth pass over the barrage.
