Ponnani harbour is located at the mouth of Bharathappuzha river where Bharathappuzha river & Ponnani-Tirur river join with each other and empties together into Arabian Sea. Opposite side of harbour is Patinjarekkara village and beach. This harbour has a historical importance for trading and battles. This is one of the major fishing centre in Kerala & main harbor in Malappuram district with enough parking facility & a play ground. Entry fees for four wheeler is ₹40 & two wheeler is ₹20. Fishing and tourist boat of different sizes harbour here. Fish market, cold storage room, export facility, jhankar boat service to Patinjarekkara village etc are available here. During the months of February and March, large number of migratory birds flock at Ponnani (both Ponnani and Patinjarekkara Beaches). Very beautiful scenery and little busy on holidays evening.

It's a small harbour. Clean harbour compared to common harbours in Kerala. Boats with fishes are usually arriving early in the morning. Can see how the fishes are sold with auction. Also can purchase fresh fishes straight from the sea.
