There were two gymnastics club in Authpur, one is Roypara Byayam Samiti, and the other is Shakti-sadhak Byayam samiti. The former was far better than the latter. It was, since its beginning, in a very bad state, and attracted few people, The Roypara Byayam Samiti has given birth to wrestlers like Mr Sunil Roy and others. He was a legendary figure in Authpur. He can remain under the earth for one hour or so (a major feat which we have witnessed during our school days in the fifties of the last century). An we have seen on his chest a solid iron piece on a brick was cut by a blacksmith. He remained unmoved. He was heavily built and known as Pagla Hati (Wild Elephant), not a derogatory term, but it was in appreciation of his different sort of achievements. He was so powerful as an wild elephant. He may not be alive now. If he is, I pay my respects to him. Can anybody give any info about him and also another gymnast of the same club, Mr Sunirmal Roy, an always-smiling man with a strong built.
