This place is approx 25 km from Darbhanga. History of this place related with dwapar yug as per hindu mythology when lord Ram with his brother Laxman moved with Rishi Vishwamitra, the purpose was to free the area from demons like Tarka. Suddenly at this place lord Rama feels some one is praying to him , A lady say's ahilya was once cursed by his husband and said she will only free from this curse when lord Rama touches him with his feet.
Here lord Rama Stop and free ahilya from her curse by touching his stoned idol with his feet.
Ahilya become very greatful to lord Rama.

Ahalya Sthan is the place where once the ashram of Maharishi Gautama stood. The temple, in its present structural form was built between 1662 and 1682 during the rule of Maharaja Chhatra Singh and Maharaja Rudra Singh. This is also the first Ram Janaki temple in India. The temple is beautifully made with fine patterns and designs of art and ancient Indian architecture. Inside the shrine, there is a flat stone said to contain the foot prints of Sita, wife of Ram, as the main object of worship.

Ahalya Sthan is a place of historical and mythological significance in Hinduism. According to Hindu mythology, Ahalya was the wife of Gautama Maharishi, a sage who lived in ancient India. She was cursed by her husband and turned into a stone due to her infidelity. Later, Lord Rama, an incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu, came to the site and touched the stone, restoring Ahalya's human form. This place is revered as a sacred spot by Hindus, and there are several Ahalya Sthan temples and shrines located throughout India.
