The temple at Harishchandra Ni Chori probably dates to the 10th century. Chori in Gujarati means the marriage pavilion where a couple goes around the ritual fire during the wedding ceremony. It is named in the belief that the legendary king Harishchandra was married here. It has a rectangular sanctum with a large pavilion in front. The sanctum doorway is adorned with bands comprising a creeper, lotus leaves and the vine which is supposed to grant wishes. The two females' figures at its base are Ganga and Yamuna. The whole structure is enclosed within the courtyard. The walls of this courtyard have fallen down but the ornamental gateway (torana) still stands. The torana was made of two square (bhadraka) pillars, with the arch springing from above the fluted section (bharana). The pillar base rose from an elevated platform and comprising of five mouldings (Khura, Kumbha, Kalasa, Antarpatta and Kapotali) faced with niches in four directions. The lower parts of the pillar shafts seemed to be adorned with fine sculptures most of which were damaged. These were framed by square pilasters and sheltered by by an awning and a pediment between two miniature Nagara spires at the corners followed by medallion, vase and gorgon band, with foliate scrolls in the interspaces. On this there was a ribbed portion upholding small brackets supporting the lion on elephant motif (Gajakratna Simha) at the outer faces. The Makaras emitting an arch of twin arcs on the inner faces of the pillars were placed at this level. The arch was carved out on the lintel and only portions of the surrounding stone from the lower slab were scooped out. The arch was embellished with an undulating, inhabited creeper pattern, with a kirtimukh at the apex. Gandharvas and Kinnaras indulged in playing musical instruments and dancing occupied the space below the arch. The soffit of the lintel bore a lotus and stencilled creeper following Maha Gurjar style. The Chauri had a sanctum without an idol. It has been declared as a protected place by the Archaeological Department of the Government of India. According to legend, this temple is presumed to be that of the goddess Mangala Devi.
