This is the most popular Ghats along the Yamuna river, just 500m further from the famous Dwarkadheesh temple. Yamuna Aarti is performed at Sunset & is highly recommended. The ancient city can be best seen during a boat ride from here. Ruins of Kans Qila can also be seen while boating. Beware of the local priests & touts who are scamsters waiting for looting the tourists

According to mythology, the name Vishram ghat was originated due to three reasons; Firstly 5000 years ago Lord Krishna after punishing and killing Kans rested in Vishram Ghat; Secondly when Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came to Vrindavan rested in Vishram Ghat; Thirdly when Shri Basudev ji(Father of lord Krishna in his mathura pastimes) was carrying the newborn Lord krishna across Kalindi(river Yamuna) to the other side of the river i.e Gokul; took rest at Vishram Ghat. Vishram literally means Rest and Ghat means River Bank.
Presently this place is located at the bank of river Yamuna with temple of goddess Yamuna and her brother Yamraj since ancient times. One can observe that by looking at the bells here.People often say, those who worship here whole heartedly with devotion leaves this materialistic world permanently and obtain salvation. They are not being departed to the Yama Loka.
Also there is beautiful tradition that still exist somehow among the vrajavasis that siblings i.e brothers and sisters on the auspicious day of bhai-dooj , if together take holy bath at Yamuna river in vishram ghat , surely they are being removed from all the material obstacles in their life and attain salvation.
At present lot of devotees from every part of india and around the world visit this place to worship River kalindi(Yamuna) and Yamraj. And atmosphere of this place is so heartmelting that anyone can immerse their soul into serenity that exist here except summer season due to the scorching heat?.
I myself visited this place four and experienced the atmosphere here. So for the visitors ideal time to visit would be at arround 6-9:30a.m or 5:30-7:30 p.m in summer season to witness the aarti and 7-10 a.m or 4:30- 7:30 p.m in other seasons in order to avoid the heat.

It is the main ghat of Mathura and is central to 25 other ghats.
The traditional parikrama starts and ends at Vishram Ghat. Lord Krishna is said to have rested at this place after killing Kansa.
Next to dwarikadhish temple on walking distance.
Boat ride is must and beware of monkeys.
Hardly they charge 20 rs to 50 rs per person for boat ride.
We visited in evening for witnessing the Yamuna Aarti. Its suggested to assemble atleast 15-20 mins beforehand to get a suitable place to sit. The Aarti started at 7pm and ended in 15 mins and is very average and nothing compared to Haridwar/Kashi. Visiting here just for witnessing the Aarti is not worth the time and effort.
The Vishram Ghat has a very crowded approach and e-rickshaw /walking is the best way to reach here. Rickshaws charge around 10-15 per head from Krishna Janmbhoomi. Visit to Dwarkadhish Temple can be combined with Vishram Ghat as both are nearby.
If you like to be with your self and the nature, the right time is @ Morning at Sun rise. Also the best time to be away from the rush and crowd.
Thanks
Dhaara
