God is one form of Vishnu avatara and brother of venkateshwara swami. Temple is very prominent in melukote. It is situated in the main town. Temple architecture is very good. You have ample parking place. It is around 50kms from Mysore.

Melukote is around 55 km away from Mysuru, is famous for vyramudi utsava which takes places annually at the
Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple, with a collection of crowns and jewels which are brought to the temple for the annual celebration.
On the top of the hill is the temple of Yoganarasimha. Many more shrines and ponds are located in the town. Melukote is home to the Sanskrit Research academy and collection of Vedic.

The ancient temple of Sri Cheluva Narayana Swamy and Sri Yoganarasimha Swamy temple atop the hill in Melukote. The pushkarini is quite beautiful. One needs to climb around 180 steps to visit Sri Yoganarasimha Swamy temple. The steps are quite steep. There is monkey menace as well. One needs to be careful. There will be rush on weekends. This place is also famous for Iyengar cuisine. One can see lots of carts and hotels providing Puliogare and sweet Pongal. One can also take back Puliogare mix or paste from here. Subbanna mess is quite famous for their food.

Temple is widely visited by all who go to Melkote. The Prakara is very wide & has many pillars supporting the heavy stone slabs. No joining is seen & inter locking system is used in construction. Tidol is very beautiful & well decorated. This temple is very old, probably 1000 yrs old. the deity is very attractive. One would feel sacred and divine experience.
