Some 20 kilometers from Ludhiana on Grand Trunk road is Mughal Serai at a place known as Doraha. It is more famously known as RDB fort after an Aamir Khan movie Rang De Basanti which was shot at this place. After this movie only pele came to know about this place and now it is a frequently visited by people.
It is completely in dilapidated condition as it has not been looked after by the government. RDB fort is where the caravans during Mughal time used to stop by. It is very spacious from inside and it has two wells. There is a famous Gurudwara on highway near it, Gurudwara Manji Sahib.

The 'Rang de Basanti' fort (or the Doraha Fort, or the Doraha Sarai) is a 2 hour drive from Chandigarh (it is just near Ludhiana).
A bit of history: Built by the Mughal ruler Jahangir, it is a huge rectangular sarai with rooms and verandahs on all sides. Though in a dilapidated condition, its ancient grandeur can still be viewed from the two massive double-storied gateways, which still stands intact.
One of the gates is beautifully decorated with blue and yellow glazed tiles. The second gate is different with its façade divided into panels and furnished with carved brickwork. There is also a mosque and a well in the courtyard.
During the weekend, several people drive in to enjoy a picnic away from crowded cities amidst the lush landsape of a typical Punjab's village.
