I live very next to this Periya Eri. Earlier it was in a dilapidated state and later, even though late, municipality had desilted the northern part of the lake and made it better. A walking path is made on the eastern side of the lake which something (not exactly) like a dam. More beautification work is happening and hope it will become a better and clean lake in the near future. There are some plans to make it a small tourist attraction with some boating facility, but not sure when will it happen. Hoping for the best.

The lake is being desilted after a prolonged dispute. The pace of desilting is extremely slow. Since the last monsoon season was a flop, there was no big damage. The bund on the Eastern side has been strengthened and it is a nice walking track now. Sewage discharge into the lake needs to be blocked. There is no progress on the Southern side of the lake.
