A not so popular picnic spot in Kerala. The Neyyar dam park has a lion safari park, deer park and a crocodile park. We will get to visit all these places in a boat safari. The reservoir's water is calm and the surrounding mountains provide a scenic beauty, that gives a pleasant feeling of joy to travel in the boat.
There is no hurried time, so one can enjoy the parks in a relaxed way. We got around 10 minutes of resting time in each places before the boat could arrive to pick us to the next spot.
The aquarium outside the dam park is well maintained with a decent collection of fresh water fishes. A worthy watch.
The dam park is like a long walkway. The park is well maintained with beautiful sculptures along the way. We can walk on the top of the dam and come back to the entrance point. The whole walk in the dam feels like a good workout :P
One more important thing: the restrooms were neat and well maintained.
In short, Neyyar is one such underrated place, that failed to become popular.

Very nice park ... good picnic spot..lots of status like surveyor...hunter...gardener... fisherman . Common men.. women..etc etc.. which looks like original.... nice experience...well maintained terrace gardens....small created waterfall...a swimming pool which is now under renovation.... some rabbits etc etc....ample parking available..there is a canteen too there...an ideal place for weekend get-together and picnics...

Serene environment with spectacular scenery, explore the surrounding areas and you'll be awestruck by the views. Locals are very friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

A great dam for Irrigation uses. The park there is so lovely. The dam is so beautiful and the water availability around the place is great. They'll provide purified filtered water for drinking uses. The Lion Park across the reservoir is good but the lions are not properly treated. Allover, its a good place to hangout with.
