We’ve seen this pub evolve many times over the past 25yrs. Now it’s a carvery and part of the Greene King group. If you get the carvery when it’s fresh, it’s fantastic. The portions are very good and the staff are friendly. It can get very busy on a Sunday, so try to book to avoid waiting. This pub also services the hotel next door with a buffet breakfast. You can pay per head to enjoy it even if you’re not a guest at the hotel. The children’s play area has shrunk considerably since it was a Wacky Warehouse in my day, but they use the space well and if it isn’t too busy, the children do enjoy themselves.

Great local carvery with great food at decent prices. The children play area was very appreciated.

*****************EDIT**************** ; Today I revisited and standards were different which is a shame. I ordered a large coke then ordered the same and received two different glasses. When I went to address it they said pour it into the other cup it’s pretty much the same which I did as you can see in the picture and it wasn’t. If I wanted a regular coke I would order that but I ordered a large. One of the staff also accidentally spilt the beer everywhere which my fiancé later ended up sitting on which then made his trousers drenched in beer. Won’t be visiting again which is disappointing.

Lovely pub, we bring the kids here in the morning to use the soft play so it's always really quiet. Any other parents be aware they've changed the rules for the soft play so you now need to buy a breakfast if there in the morning. We didn't know about this as there is nothing on their website so it was a bit of a shock. The staff were brilliant and helpful but just a note that if you're there early there is now an expectation to buy a full breakfast per adult!

A great place for families. We celebrated birthdays and we can say that the service is good and the food incredibly nice! No need to think about parking or how to distract our kids so to spend a few hours with our family and friends!
