I am an alumni of this school and studied here from 1979 to 1985. I got admitted here in Class VII and am from the legendery first batch of the school where students gave Class X boards exam on 1983. I took science stream and gave my Class XII exam from here in 1985. KV inculcates discipline as well as cosmopolitan approach among the students. Most of our batchmates from school are still connected even 37 long years after leaving the school. The school has groomed me well to take up the challenges of life. I am presently a Senior Officer of All India Service and cherish those memories. Truely, Bharat ka swarnim gaurav Kendriya Vidyalaya layega.

The School is a Coed Day School, with classes from I to XII. It is an Hindi, English Medium school. The school is located in Sector 1 area of Salt Lake (Bidhannagar). Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 was established in 1977. It is a Government School and is part of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and is managed by Civil.
