The station code for Jammu Tawi Railway Station is 'JAT'. Being the largest railway network in the world, Indian Railways announced station code names to all train routes giving railways its language. There are 120 trains that pass through the Jammu Tawi Railway station. Some of the major trains passing through JAT are - (SMVD KATRA - KOTA Express, SMVD KATRA - MANGALORE CENTRAL Navyug Express, etc).

The place is crowded during the daytime by the devotees who do not have direct connectivity to the SVDK Katra Railway Station. People come here and leave for Katra via Bus, Cab or any other connecting trains. The place is properly secured by the RPFs and police forces and proper luggage checking takes place at the entrance. There are many food facilities available at the station like Jan Ahaar, etc. If the Rickshaws are asking for higher rates than usual outside the railway station, just take the Railway Road on the left and after 300-500m of walking you reach near main road where local busses and e-rickshaws are available. This would not only be good for pocket, but also you get a warmup for the climb for Vaishnodevi. As for the language used in the city, almost everyone speaks hindi. Since the state is under President's Rule, expect police forces to posted at major checkpoints and public services, and they are quite helpful and approachable as well.

The railway station is pretty good and clean but the only problem is that since the passengers gets tired travelling such a distance in Vaishno devi or any other hillstation out their. Their should be escalators for reaching out the platforms. Overall its beautiful and you can also reach the bustand which is just opposite the station for reaching different places like katra Riasi Kashmir and so on.
