This is a really good place where you can watch wild elephants spending entire night in the stream. More chance of seeing the elephants is in the night and hence most people visit here between 7pm and 9 pm with their families. There will be fewer people after 9pm but if there are more elephants coming as a herd then people may stay there until 2 am. Mankulam Anakulam road is the normal route used which is in a pathetic state now. But if you don't mind that then you may use your own car and it need not be a four wheel drive. People coming in auto rikshaws and cars even though 4x4 jeeps are most used. There is an alternate route from Aluva-Munnar road but it can be used only if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and only during daytime. There are cottages around this place. If you choose that you need not sit near pond anticipating arrival of elephants as cottage owners may alert you when elephants are there and you need to come only at that time. Note:Be careful if you have to travel back to Adimali side and if you follow google maps as google shows some shortcuts from Mankulam to Adimali which I felt as extremely dangerous as some places the roads are extremely steep and feels like a nose dive. I used a bullet 350 and I had to go in 1st gear applying both brakes and still feels like skidding.

One of the best places to watch elephants at a safe distance. This place is so near to the city but away from common din. You can watch elephants drinking water from the anakkulam lake while a hot chai and pazhampori!!! :)
