This airport tried to be a domestic airport but couldn't due to land acquisition issues in near by people who are really short sighted. Development of this airport would have beena good thing for Dhanbad and Jharkhand.

The biggest thing was that the airport was not regular operational,And it happens when someone v.v.iGuests arrive.Even today, the residents of Dhanbad are waiting for the airport.
