Nice place. You will get a good feel while climbing the elevation. This is exactly located on the main road between Numaligarh and golaghat. You need to step up to the small mountain. Above there lot of archaeological sculpture we can see. It's just awesome. There is no entry fee, you have sufficient car parking space. Two way of approach is there, with steps and without steps. Both will be a different experience.

Deopahar Archaeological site is a popular historical place of Assam. Oldest shiv temple babathan is situated in this place. Place is surrounded by green trees and short height of mountains, it's a natural peaceful place. Visitors can visit this place at morning 9.00am to evening 4.00pm. Place is well maintained and 202 steps of stairs for go to the main location of this place in top, where is decorated the oldest statues (murti) of this place. Here's approximate 10000+ small big statues are decorated since 10-11 century. It is one of the most noteworthy ancient heritages place of numaligarh, Golaghat district in Assam.

Another place of Assam that is seeped in history that predates the Ahoms by around 100 years. But sadly, the negligence of authorities in maintaining such an important place is very sad. The site gives us an idea of what Assam used to be like and the religious ideas that were followed at that time. There are many stone carvings that range from different centuries to a site which looks like an ancient emple that has been ruined. It would have been so much better if places like these were promoted more by the government and concrete steps were taken for the maintenance and well being of the site.

A bit of a climb, about 200 steps which slope upwards. You might be out of breath by the time you reach, but the old stone carvings are pretty and will be worth the five minute ascent.

There are remnants of a shiv temple. Broken pieces of temple parts are examples of intricate art works.
