As an international NGO worker, I’ve had dental treatment in dozens of cities in Asia and Europe. From Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Dhakka, Colombo, Singapore to all over the UK. My experience at the City Dental Clinic in Pettah has left me astonished at the professionalism, speed of treatment, high standard of hygiene and latest equipment, cost of treatment as well as quality of service that was unparalleled. So here I am one sunny day enjoying a lovely 'thali' in Trivandrum, and the next thing I hear is the crunch of my tooth chipping because I’d bitten into a stone that was in the rice. I'm in sensitive pain and wondering on the next urgent treatment in an unfamiliar city. After a bit of google searching I came across City Dental Clinic (I called several other clinics and the initial conversation itself did not impress me. I try to be thorough and ask ‘too many questions’ for some people’s taste. Also, I’ve learned from some bad experiences in the past!). After the initial examination and x-ray I was told exactly what was required. The x-ray also revealed some other problems, which I was aware of for more than a year and had procrastinated in getting treated because of my hectic schedule (I was unable to bite on one side because of this recurring problem). I cross questioned the dentist on the possible avenue of various treatments offered to me and settled on what was necessary within the duration of my stay. No compulsion, only what I had agreed. The next couple of days I managed to receive world quality treatment at the hands of Dr. Thanmbi Prabakaran. Three weeks later I am back in London and I am enjoy chewing food on both sides, something I hadn’t been able to do in a while. So, a BIG thank you to the staff, from the receptionist I interacted with, the cleaners who come early in the morning to do their work (while I came early for my appointment) to the clinical support staff during my treatment. If there was anything ‘negative’ I had to say it would be; a) Dr. Thankbi Prabakaran is straight in his communication. Not the most sensitive in how he comes across. (Personally, I’m totally fine with this approach). b) There are a few juniors/trainees who continually approach and interact with him, while he is treating you! c) One of the clinical support staff wasn’t too good with the saliva ejector and the doctor had to keep reminder her, at times irritated.

I came to City Dental Clinic a few years ago with a broken tooth. We then went through each option in detail and the treatment costs. At no point was there any pressure to do anything further and was told to give it some thought. The results are amazing and everyone has noticed a difference. The doctor has been brilliant. He's so easy to talk to, explains everything simply and lays out your options with no right or wrong answer. He has just the right mixture of being professional and serious, but very approachable and kind. All at City Dental clinic have been extremely polite and professional. I would definitely recommend and return myself.

I had to extract my tooth because of a faulty root canal from this place. And believe me I spent a really good amount (probably the cost of a tyre of the Audi car in front of their place). If only Google had the option to choose 0 star.

I have been going to this clinic since childhood and i liked this place because of its cleanliness and care given by the main doctor dr. Thampi each time i went there. But now as years passed the quality has decreased a lot. Dr thampi will not even check properly what the assistant doctors are doing. They even misdiagnosed an infected teeth which needed root canal to be a perfectly fine even after taking an xray! And i had to even do a re-root canal for a tooth which was root canaled here. Please don't go there...!
