Kattampally Dam/Bridge was built in 1966 soon after, the park also opened for public. But people in those days were struggling for survival, specially in monsoon season. Those days only few people own car. People used to enjoy watching the river and park when they are passing in bus. You can buy here fresh fish and Mussels (Kallummakkaya) even late night. Many people enjoy wishing.

I can't find anything here to say it is a park!! The Kattampalli dam bridge and it's surrounding river area are beautiful. If DTPC authority utilise it by making a park, kayaking point, boating, arranging benches for people to sit, etc. and keep this place neat and clean it will be useful for people around here and also Kannur will get another tourist attraction spot.
