Very calm and tranquil , hardly a soul around when I went there , around 9 am , I got into the parking area , perhaps the lake shore there has lesser number of birds - was able to see a few cormorants and a heron during the 20 mins stay

Such a beautiful place to hang out with your partner or for photography. Lots of space and trees, if you're lucky you can see so may birds roaming around. It's such a huge space that sometimes you feel you're all alone here. Such a quiet, gorgeous and mesmerising place.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the city of joy, there lies this amazing place that serves as a breather for it's citizens. This park is situated in Salt Lake, and is undeniably one of the most beautiful parks in Kolkata. There is a huge lake inside this park. Trees and plants are available in plenty and one can find ample space to sit under the tree shade on a hot summer afternoon. There is also a horticulture shop from where you can buy plants at affordable prices. The ticket price is ₹40 and camera charges are extra. It's definitely a must-visit place for every nature lover. ?????

Central Park situated in Salt Lake is a public urban park. It is also known as Banabitan. It is the second largest open space in Kolkata Metropolitan Area after the Maidan. It is a favorite hangout for lovers. This park is easily reachable from the Karunamoyee Bus Terminus in Salt Lake. Central Park metro station and depot of Kolkata Metro Line 2 are located here. On the roads surrounding the park are the buildings where the West Bengal government has relocated many government departments. The park is built around an expansive water body. There is a bridge which connects on side of the lake to an island which has a pagoda. The lake serves as a haven for water birds like lesser whistling duck, common moorhen, White-brested waterhen, rufous treepie, cattle egret, cormorants and other species. There are also boating facilities in a cordoned off section of the lake near the rose garden. The park has a very beautiful rose garden (near Gate No.1, opposite of Bikash Bhawan). The rose garden is bordered by rows of hedges surrounding the rose plants. When in bloom, the rose flowers present a delightful sight. The park's butterfly garden has several species of butterflies. The butterfly garden consists of several plots where shrubs and trees on which butterflies and their larvae (caterpillar) feed, have been planted. Dedicated gardeners maintain these areas under the guidance of Nature Mates - Nature Club. The West Bengal Forest Dept. supports this initiative. The butterfly garden can be easily reached after entering the park from Gate No.1 and then taking a right from the main walking track.

Beautiful park in the centre of Salt Lake hence referred to sometimes as the central park. Some amount of renovation has been done recently and tickets have started from 1st Aug 22. For morning walk it's Rs 10. from 5am to 9am. After that ticket price is Rs 50 per head. Crowds are much lesser after introducing tickets and it's really a pleasant experience. The park is huge and should take around an hour and a half of fast walking to cover all the lanes. Amazing place to sit and meditate. At the netaji statue gate which is actually a bit away from the statue, there is no car parking. In the morning people park on the adjoining street.
